Level sensor: Guided-wave radar device
New family of devices adds sophistication to versatile technology.
Siemens’ new line of Sitrans LG200 guided wave radar level transmitters exploits the capabilities of this technology, creating a family of versatile devices that provide reliable service in a variety of applications.
The LG200 family of sensors operates in applications for liquids, slurries, interface, and bulk solids. Sitrans LG200 is a two-wire, loop-powered HART level transmitter that can measure materials with a dielectric range of 1.4 and higher, temperatures up to 427 °C (800 °F), and pressures up to 431 bar (6250 psig).
The company says the family offers reliable level and interface measurement in liquids with corrosive vapors, foam, steam, high viscosity, surface agitation, high fill/empty rates, low level, and varying dielectric or density. The line of 15 models includes coaxial, single and twin rod, and cable probes. All models are available with intrinsically safe, explosion proof, or non-incendive approvals.
With its compact design and range of threaded and flange process connections, the design is reportedly easy to install with simple setup using three programming buttons on the instrument or via a HART hand-held programmer. The user can also program the device from a remote location with the Simatic PDM (process device manager) via HART protocol.
