EZ-Screen safety light screen from Banner Engineering requires no controller. A complete system has an emitter and receiver, and options include interface modules, mounting options, and enclosures.

EZ-Screen pairs are available in 14-mm and 30-mm resolutions, in 2-, 3-, and 4-beam systems, and in 12 lengths from 150 mm to 1,800 mm. EZ-Screen’s redundant and self-checking design qualifies as a Type-4 device as defined by IEC 61496, while all models have a 9-40 millisecond output response time. EZ-Screen also has an easy-to-read LED, and seven-segment displays tell where faults are (or were).

In addition, EZ-Screen’s fixed blanking features allows stationary objects, such as tooling or materials inflow, to be ignored when positioned in a defined set of beams. If the objects are removed, the system goes into a lockout mode to ensure that an unsafe gap in the sensing field is not created.

A flexible cascading option allows up to four systems of varying sizes, lengths, and resolutions to be wired together to form a unified, control-stop element with a one-cable interface. Cascaded system response time is only minimally affected by incorporating each system in the cascade, adding a maximum of 2 ms to the overall response time for each additional pair in the cascade.

Meanwhile, e-stop buttons, safety switches, and safety module output contacts can be interfaced at the end receiver to provide the greatest flexibility in an EZ-Screen machine safeguarding solution. Also, multiple ac power supplies with safety relay outputs allow EZ-Screen to fit into the widest range of applications. www.bannerengineering.com
