Courtesy: TE ConnectivityTE Connectivity's MHR-T Series of high-temperature, miniature linear variable differential transformers (LVDTs) have a diameter of 9.5 mm and can operate in temperatures ranging from -20 to 200 C (-4 to 392 F). The transducers are designed to measure displacement in space-constrained applications such as process controls, automation and robotics as well as chemical plants, hydraulics, and power turbines. They are available with a range of strokes from ±0.025 to ±1 in and feature a corrosion-resistant aluminum construction that is designed to withstand elevated temperatures as well as high shock and vibration.

The MHR-T features a low core weight that reduces its influence on the attribute being recorded for accurate measurement in applications requiring higher displacement speeds. It also reduces mechanical stresses to preserve the structural integrity of the core actuation assembly for long-term, reliable measurements. The frictionless design provides several benefits such as infinite resolution and zero position repeatability for increased stability and repeatability. With the core separated from the coil, the position sensors can also isolate caustic or pressurized media from the coil assembly via a non-magnetic barrier to enhance reliable, long-term operation. The windings in the MHR-T Series include a high-temperature, flexible resin for exceptional protection against harsh environments.
