M2M Data Corporation , a provider of Internet-based supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) services, has joined with Stratos Global Corp ., a global provider of remote communications products and services, to market and deliver end-to-end remote automation solutions to customers in the energy, industry, and government markets.

These Web-based SCADA solutions, to be delivered throughout the Americas, combine M2M Data's secure, hosted monitoring and control services and Stratos' suite of field-proven satellite communications offerings.

The companies began this joint initiative to address what they consider to be a lack of communication options in many traditional oil and gas and utility remote automation systems. According to M2M Data and Stratos, despite innovation in information technology over the past decade, control level applications in these industries often have inflexible poll/response architecture and high development and maintenance costs. The turnkey solutions provided by M2M Data and Stratos are targeted at overcoming these barriers.
