Matrox Design Assistant 2.0 from Matrox Imaging , flowchart-based software for the Matrox Iris E-Series smart camera, lets users create application flowcharts with steps for image processing, blob analysis, pattern recognition based on normalized grayscale correlation, and character string reading. In conjunction with version 1.0, the new edition offers vision tools for most applications.

It supports Ethernet/IP and Modbus over TCP/IP to interact with PLCs and other process automation equipment and includes an SDK (software developer kit) that lets users add custom functionality. Users can create an application flowchart that instructs the Matrox Iris E-Series camera to capture, process, analyze, and display image data, and eliminates the need for programming and scripting. The development environment is self-contained, and the integrated HTML editor and layout tool lets users create a custom Web-based operator view for monitoring the application. Matrox Iris E-Series smart camera family supports PC-based machine vision systems, and features hardware for image sensing and software for image capture, processing, and analysis. It is powered by an ultra low power (ULP) Celeron and embedded Intel architecture processor, and runs Microsoft Windows CE real-time operating system. www.matrox.com Matrox Imaging Also read selections from the– Edited by Jeanine Katzel , consulting editor Control Engineering News Desk Register here .
