Jeff Seewald, PE , joins Building Intelligence Group LLC , St. Paul, Minn., as an intelligent buildings engineer. Seewald’s experience includes 20 years of work in commercial buildings systems and integrated controls. His new role combines system-engineering skills with industry knowledge to provide analysis and solutions on how commercial building client’s can achieve greater levels of functionality, efficiency, and building intelligence.

Schneider Electric North American Operating Division , Palatine, Ill., will send more than 200 senior level executives to the Gulf Region today. The Schneider executives will rebuild six homes in the community of Ocean Springs, Miss., and celebrate the start of its 2008 Leadership Forum. This trip will mark the second year the executives visited the Gulf Region through a partnership with Habitat for Humanity.

Kevin Mussler , PE, LEED AP , managing partner CMTA Inc., Lexington, Ky., was named to the USGBC’s Kentucky Chapter Board of Directors for 2008. Jeremy Lewis, electrical engineer, earned his Kentucky PE license and became a LEED AP in December 2007. DeeAnn Ladwig , LEED AP, electrical engineer, CMTA Inc., also earned her Kentucky PE license in 2007.

Smith Seckman Reid Inc. (SSR) opened its 11thoffice in Tampa. The new office will provide engineering design and facility consulting services including: MEP engineering design, communication and technology system planning and design, regulatory compliance support, commissioning, LEED facilitation, and sustainable design. SSR has offices in Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville, Tenn.; Houston; Dallas; Denver; Phoenix; and Hernando, Miss.

Victor R. McCrary Jr., PhD , Clarksville, Md., will receive the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) 2008 Innovation in Technology Award for the Alumni Extension Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Area Chapter. At the Third Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards Dinner and Gala on Jan. 26, McCrary received recognition for his professional achievements in scientific research and technology department. McCrary is the president of the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers and the business area executive for science and technology at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physical Laboratory, Laurel, Md.

Stanley Consultants Inc. , Muscatine, Iowa, opened a new office in St. Louis. The new office will service educational, health care, and industrial clients with planning, design, commissioning, and construction management . Dave Goetz, PE , is the manager of the office. Goetz brings 21 years of professional engineering experience with work in project management, business development, planning, and design. Goetz previously served as manager of the Stanley Consultants’ Chicago office.

CV Engineering , Pittsburgh, celebrated its 10-year anniversary. Since its origination in 1998, CV Engineering provided work expertise in multi-discipline engineering, design, and project management. Their design capabilities include a range of project requirements, including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and project management.

Robert G. Thompson, CEO, AIA , ends his 30-year career with KlingStubbins , Philadelphia. A co-leadership committee will be the fifth generation of leadership in KlingStubbins’ 61-year history. Bradford White Fiske, FAIA , will continue as National Director of Design, where he is responsible for the design direction of the firm. Fiske has 23 years experience with the company. Robert T. Hsu, AIA , is National Director of Projects, where he oversees all project-related matters. Hsu has 16 years experience with the company. Michael R. Lorenz, PE, LEED AP , is the National Managing Principal, where he is responsible for day-to-day operations as well as strategic initiatives. Lorenz has 22 years experience with the company.

Russell P. Fleming, PE , executive vice president NFSA , Bethesda, Md., is now the president of the SFPE . A member of SFPE since 1977, Fleming served on the qualifications board, ethics committee, technical steering committee, and the editorial advisory board. He became a fellow in 1995 and served as president of the SFPE New York Metropolitan Chapter from 1982 to 1983. Fleming received the NFPA’s Standard Meda l in 1998 and the Paul Lamb Award in 2006.

Peter Bass Assocs ., Troy, Mich., announced that Michael V. Romano passed the PE license exam in Michigan. Romano is an electrical engineering in the firm’s corporative/governmental design group and assists in the technical production of a project, including system design and layout, product research, documentation and drawing review submittals, and field investigations. Romano’s specialties include indoor and outdoor lighting systems, medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems, fire alarm systems, emergency power distribution systems, and power system evaluations. His current projects include Shelby Township New Police and Court Buildings, Henry Ford West Bloomfield Medical center Renovations, and MGM Mirage New York Casino remodeling.

Cannon Design , New York City, representatives attended the dedication ceremony of the new Saint Louis University Edward A. Doisy Research Center . Named in honor of the Nobel-prize winning biochemist and SLU School of Medicine professor, Edward Doisy, the project was designed by Cannon Design. The research center is a 206,000 sq-ft., 10-story structure that will foster exploration, research, and information gathering by medical leaders. Lab and office spaces line the building’s perimeter to maximize views and natural lighting.

LHB Inc., Minneapolis, announced the addition of Jeff Blackwell, civil engineer, to its Minneapolis office. Blackwell has 20 years of experience in the public works group and his responsibility includes the individual project management of civil engineering design for commercial/retail projects.

HDR , Omaha, Neb., acquired Cummins & Barnard Inc ., Ann Arbor, Mich. Cummins & Barnard employs 112 professionals and specializes in consulting and design services for industrial, institutional, and utility power generation facilities within the United States. In addition, HDR specializes in engineering, environmental, transmission, and balance of plant areas. William Damon III, PE, CEO, Cummins & Barnard will become senior vice president and director of power consulting and James Connell, PE, president, Cummins & Barnard, will be senior vice president and director of power facilities.

Spectrum Engineers , Salt Lake City, received Intermountain Contractormagazine’s best of 2007 awards in: Best Public Project Over $5 million, Gordon R. Hall Courthouse, Tooele, Utah; Best Higher education Project, Warnock Engineering Buildings at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City; and Best M/E Project, Intermountain Medical Center, Murray, Utah. Spectrum also received the 2008 American Council of Engineering Companies Engineering Excellence Grand Award, Intermountain Medical Center, Merit Award for M/E Engineering, Salt Lake Community College Health Sciences Center, West Jordan, Utah, and first place in the 2007 Society for Marketing Professional Services of Utah Marketing Communications Awards, Campaign for Spectrum’s 25thAnniversary Campaign.

Girard Engineering PC , Falls Church, Va., announced the promotion of two of the firm’s senior engineers, J. Andrew Marusich, PE , and Stephen J. Millnick, LEED AP , to principal. Marusich has 20 years of experience working as an electrical engineering and project manager. His experience includes the design of systems for office buildings, multi-family residential complexes, and interior fit-outs. His recent projects includes engineering services for Liberty Park, Tysons Corner, Va., and Nationals Ballpark, Washington, D.C. Millnick has 25 years of experience as a project manager and mechanical engineering. His experience includes the design of HVAC systems for large office buildings and his recent work projects include the Half Street mixed-use complex, Washington, D.C.

Nolte Assocs. Inc. , Sacramento, Calif., announced the appointment of Lance Malburg, Tripat Mangat , and Robert Van Uffelen as associates. The newly appointed associates are partial owners of the firms, serve on Nolte’s Leadership Council, and assist principals in managing firm-wide operations and planning. Malburg is from Denver where he is a registered engineer that specializes in site engineering for public and private clients. He has 13 years of experience in the preparation of drainage and utility reports, feasibility studies, analyses and design of storm sewer and detention systems, and the design of sanitary sewer and water mains. Mangat is from the San Jose office where he is a civil engineer. He has 24 years of experience in the planning and design of urban infrastructure and water resource projects. Van Uffelen is from the Fort Collins, Colo., office where he is an engineering manager. He has 23 years of experience in project management, site planning, development, and civil infrastructure design experience for both private property owners and municipalities.

WB Engineers | Consultants , New York City, promoted Julie Pampuch from marketing manager to marketing director. Pampuch joined WB in 2004 and her new responsibilities include marketing planning and budgeting, preparing proposals, presentation of materials for news business and client meetings, development of WB collateral materials, managing the marketing database and Web site, and overseeing the firm’s public relations efforts.

Chas. H. Sells Inc. , Charlton, Mass., announced that Stephen J. Morse joined the Sells’ team as a Geographic Information Systems Manager. Morse has 17 years of experience in data research and analysis, data development and manipulation, and cartographic display. Morse’s projects include a town-wide cancer death study, a municipal facility development study, and several transportation, wastewater, environmental, infrastructure, groundwater, land use, demographic, and real estate development projects.

Opus Architects & Engineers Inc ., Minneapolis, announced the promotion of Ed Gschneider , AIA, to vice president of architecture. Gschneider will now be responsible for coordinating and directing all project architecture, managing proposals, contracts and legal issues, and providing staffing, resources, and mentoring for 100 people in his project architecture group. Gschneider has 13 years of experience with office, multi-family, and institutional projects, including Collier Center, Phoenix; Grant Park and the Carlyle, Minneapolis; and the best Buy Corporate Campus, Richfield, Minn.
