Merger: Emerson acquires Decision Management International

DMI becomes part of Emerson Process Management, adding software and expertise on electronic management of workflow.

Emerson has acquired Decision Management International, Inc. (Bradenton, FL). DMI becomes part of Emerson Process Management, adding software and expertise on electronic management of workflow, materials, equipment, personnel, and documentation to Emerson’s real-time manufacturing solutions. Compliance Suite by DMI is tightly integrated with Emerson’s DeltaV Batch software as part of PlantWeb digital architecture. The acquisition covers all DMI technologies, applications, services, and employees. Terms of the agreement were not available

Compliance Suite by DMI provides high data integrity in paperless manufacturing solutions and an integrated, electronic batch record that improves overall cycle times and reduces manufacturing costs, according to the company. Data integrity is critical for manufacturers that comply with requirements in regulated industries, such as life sciences, specialty chemical, and food and beverage production.

The two companies have had a relationship since 2002, delivering integrated manufacturing solutions to process facilities. With the added capabilities of DMI software, Emerson’s automation solutions encompass the spectrum of process facility operations, from customer order receipt through production, warehousing, and shipment. The automation extends into production recipes, materials, equipment trains, and overall site documents.

John Berra, president, Emerson Process Management, said, “We are excited to bring on board the excellent leadership team from DMI and to add its technologies, services, and application expertise to the Emerson family. This acquisition extends Emerson’s portfolio and leadership in batch automation solutions to improve and streamline production processes, and enables us to offer an even broader range of value, performance, and reliability.”

Frank Grywalski, CEO of DMI, said, "This is excellent news for our company, our customers, and the life sciences industry. Being part of such a successful global automation organization will enable us to provide an even broader and deeper range of solutions, grow our business faster, and continue to contribute to the success of the Emerson businesses.”
