MESA appoints Bauer chairman

By Plant Engineering Staff January 24, 2007

Achieving plant-floor execution excellence is one area Matt Bauer will address as the recently-appointed chairman of the board of directors for the Manufacturing Enterprise Solutions Association International. Bauer will also work with MESA to promote the exchange of best practices, strategies and innovation for managing manufacturing operations. Bauer, market development director for Information Software at Rockwell Automation, also will be involved in the planning direction for the MESA conference, which many consider to be an industry barometer.

MESA is a community of manufacturing end users, system integrators, hardware and software suppliers, industry analysts and consultants. The organization hopes to improve manufacturing production systems by interpreting emerging standards and exchanging ideas through open forums.

MESA and Industry Directions Inc. recently conducted the Metrics that Matter industry survey to increase manufacturers’ understanding of the roles metrics play in corporate performance improvement initiatives. The survey examined plant and operational KPIs commonly in use and how they relate to business and financial metrics. The objective was to show how companies can justify plant software investments and understand how plant improvements can accelerate financial success. The survey was released in October 2006.
