Microscan completed purchase of Siemens’ machine vision business

Renton, WA – The first official day for the newly-acquired Siemens machine vision business unit to operate as Microscan was Sept. 22, 2008. The next day, the newly integrated Microscan exhibited at the Assembly Technology show in Rosemont, IL, with a combined product offering of Auto ID and Vision Inspection solutions. The next tradeshow will be the Vision show in Stuttgart, Germany Nov. 4-6.According to Laura Hoffman, director of marketing for Microscan, “Overall, Microscan is very focused on enabling a smooth and successful integration of all acquired Siemens product lines. At the same time, we place high priority on open communications with our employees, distribution sales partners, and customers. The integration efforts are going very well so far, and we are proactively working now on product re-branding and product cross training.”Siemens’ Machine Vision business, formerly RVSI Acuity CiMatrix, which Siemens Energy & Automation Inc . purchased in 2005, had been a subsidiary of Robotic Visions Systems Inc. of Nashua, NH. The acquisition is expected to enhance Microscan’s technology leadership position in customer-focused traceability solutions by expanding into machine vision imaging and inspection.Microscan, a designer and manufacturer of precision data acquisition and controls, is focused on solutions for electronics, life sciences, and automotive industries. The company plans to keep the Nashua location open and retain the majority of the workforce.
