Moore Industries buys Powers Process Controls' Instrument Division

North Hills, Calif. - Moore Industries announced Jan. 15 that is has bought the Instrument Division of Powers Process Controls (Skokie, Ill.). This transaction follows the October 2001 purchase of Powers Process Controls' other divisions by Watts Industries (North Andover, Mass.) from Craneco (Stamford, Conn.). As a result, the Instrument Division remained a Craneco unit until Moore bought it. Terms of these deals were not disclosed.

Moore's acquisition includes Powers' family of multifunction 1/4-DIN single- and multi-loop process controllers, intelligent 1/8-DIN process indicators, and 1/4-DIN PID backup stations designed for use on critical loops controlled by PLC, DCS and PC-based systems.

'These products are a perfect addition to our lines of signal interface and control instruments, especially considering our avid commitment to leadership in safety related and critical loop applications,' says Leonard Moore, founder and ceo of Moore Industries. 'We acquired them to strengthen our strategic position in traditional domestic and international markets, as well as to create opportunities in important new market segments.'

The former Powers products will be manufactured at Moore Industries' headquarters. These products are now being supported by the company's international network of Interface Solution Centers.
