North Hills, Calif. - Moore Industries recently received IEC 61508 safety certification to design and manufacturer process instrumentation hardware for safety related applications in high risk industries. Unlike other IEC 61508 certification announcements for specific products, Moore Industries certification extends across the company's design and manufacturing processes.
IEC 61508 is titled 'Functional safety of electrical/electronic/programmable electronic safety related systems.' It establishes the standards for the proper management of the life cycle and all components of Safety Instrumented Systems, from sensors and logic solvers, to the response function applications that take a process to a safe state. Moore Industries certification assessment was conducted by Sira Test and Certification Ltd. (London, U.K.).
