Motorola: New mezzanine module; services initiative
''Industry’s fastest Processor PMC module'' is what Motorola Computer Group (Tempe, AZ) calls its PrPMC880 mezzanine product introduced at ESC Boston. A Power PC processor (MPC7447) enables the module to operate at speeds up to 1.3 GHz. PrPMC880 provides Ethernet connectivity at 1 Gbit and is compatible with the recently ratified VITA 32 standard.

Reportedly, PrPMC880 can cut time-to market and lower total cost of ownership for higher performance OEM applications that carry stringent size, speed, and flexibility requirements. Compact size of the module allows it to fit into more embedded equipment and satisfy size and power needs unmet by commercially available mezzanine cards. The module will be available in November.
Motorola CG also announced a ”Solution Services” initiative for its OEM customers. This suite of services provides ”engineering, development and deployment support—from product design to end of life.” Among expertise offered are Design Services, Deployment Services (from revision management to onsite support), and Renewal Services that cover next-generation product design and shorten development time.
