Newest industrial line of device server from Moxa provides an unprecedented set of features designed with the customer in mind. “We listened to the customer and in many cases, the individual installing a device server is not necessarily an expert in networking,” says Brian Tutor, Moxa product marketing manager. “As a result, it is not always simple to setup a typical device server. In many cases, a cheat sheet or setup script is written by the system integrator to help simplify the installation.”

With Moxa’s new NPort 5000A series device server, the setup has been simplified with an easy-to-use web-based setup wizard. The wizard allows typical installations to be setup in less than 30 seconds. Assigning an IP address is as simple as running a small application, which detects the NPort on the network without having to change any settings on the PC. The product line provides the highest level of surge protection available.

“In industrial automation, power surge is a leading cause of device failure. With surge protection on the power lines, the serial port and Ethernet port, the NPort IA-5000A will give customers the level of protection they need to keep their factory floor running smoothly,” says Tutor. The device consumes little power. With less than 1 Watt needed to power the device, NPort is said to be ideal for use in solar farms and battery operated applications. Models include a 1 port, 2 port and 4 port versions. DIN-rail mountable NPort IA-5000A comes in a hardened metal case supporting wide temperatures making it ideal for industrial applications.     www.moxa.com
