MTL introduces certified safety related products

MTL recently launched its Safety Related (-SR) Series of products to allow customers to take advantage of the IEC61508 safety standard.

Hampton, NH - MTL recently launched its Safety Related (-SR) Series of products to allow customers to take advantage of the IEC61508 safety standard.

MTL submitted -SR Series products to The Electric Equipment Certification Service (EECS) of The Health and Safety Executive (Derbyshire, UK) for product evaluation and testing.

Originally established in 1926, the EECS provides a range of independent product evaluation, testing, and certification services, including the British Approvals Service for Electrical Equipment in Flammable Atmospheres (Baseefa), related to equipment and systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

MTL's list of -SR Series Baseefa certified products meeting IEC61508 standards include the following, with their certified SIL level listed:

  • MTL4024-SR - Loop powered solenoid driver, SIL 2;

  • MTL4041B-SR - 4-20mA transmitter repeater, SIL 2;

  • MTL4041P-SR - 4-20mA transmitter repeater, SIL 2;

  • MTL4061-SR - Fire/smoke detector interface, SIL 1;

  • MTL5021-SR - Loop powered solenoid driver, SIL 3;

  • MTL5022-SR - Loop powered solenoid driver IIB, SIL 3;

  • MTL5025-SR - Loop powered solenoid driver, low power, SIL 3;

  • MTL5042-SR - 4-20mA transmitter repeater, SIL 2;

  • MTL4061-SR - Fire/smoke detector interface, SIL 1;

  • MTL4113/4-SR - Proximity input module, SIL 2; and

  • MTL5113/4-SR - Proximity input module, SIL 2.

MTL's -SR Series product designation helps users identify those products that apply to the IEC61508 standard. Additional MTL products are currently involved in certification testing, including several HART interface devices.
