Nearly 40,000 visit the fair
A smaller but more focused Interkama closed its doors on 28 September having received nearly 40,000 visitors, including a large percentage from outside Germany.
Düsseldorf, Germany – A smaller but more focused Interkama closed its doors on 28 September having received nearly 40,000 visitors, including a large percentage from outside Germany. Its most distinguished foreign visitor was Russia’s president Vladimir Putin and his wife Ludmilla, who visited the Ruhrgas exhibit in Hall 13 at the fairgrounds on Wednesday evening. His visit was to promote the seven Russian companies exhibiting at Interkama and to acknowledge the growing co-operation between Russia and Germany.
The new ‘Innovation Marketplace’ proved to be a success and will likely be repeated at the next Interkama. Innovation Marketplace was an open forum for all fair visitors, with over 20 sessions in a number of topics ranging from e-Procurement to Microsystems technology. Most of the sessions were in German, but the large number of foreign visitors interested in attending the sessions prompted fair officials to offer simultaneous English translations.
It was announced that the next Interkama will be held in Düsseldorf 27-31 October 2003. Dipl.-Ing. Anton S. Huber, vice president of Siemens A&D, has been named as president of Interkama 2001.
