NEC Electronics America inducted into EPA's WasteWise Hall of Fame

As first semiconductor company to be inducted, NEC is recognized for commitment to reducing waste at its manufacturing facility.


The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized NEC Electronics America Inc.'s ongoing focus on environmental responsibility.

WasteWise is a voluntary EPA partnership program that helps organizations eliminate costly municipal solid waste.

NEC Electronics America is the only semiconductor company to achieve Hall of Fame membership, and is only the 14th company overall to achieve this recognition.

The company also was given an award by the EPA for removing three toxic chemicals from its manufacturing process.

Prior to being inducted into the EPA's WasteWiseHall of Fame, NEC Electronics America had earned seven WasteWise awards, suchas Partner of the Year. The awards recognize NEC Electronics America for its commendable achievements and successful efforts to prevent and recycle waste and reduce the consumption of raw materials in the manufacturing process.

Environmental objectives at the company continue tobe focused on expanding recycling programs; achieving further reductions in chemical usage, hazardous waste disposal and greenhouse gas emissions; and developing environmentally responsible solutions for manufacturing processes.
