Nematron's (Ann Arbor, Mich.) growth and new leadership were emphasized during a review of $75 million in major contracts won by the industrial PC-based hardware and software company in a March 17 statement by company officials at National Manufacturing Week here March 16-19.

In carefully worded statements, management quashed rumors of financial difficulties, but confirmed that additional investment capital had been received "to take advantage of market opportunities."

The company created the new position of president and chief operating officer, unfilled as of mid-March, and moved day-to-day management under six company officers, including Frank G. Logan, current chairman and ceo. This will allow Mr. Logan to "focus on a number of opportunities of strategic importance."

Contracts include PC-based hardware for Schneider Automation's Magelis line, as well as workstation hardware and OpenControl software for the General Motors Powertrain Group.
