Both devices are stand-alone units. The Model 230A can be used to test Ethernet (BNC), 10baseT (UTP/STP), and other network cables. The Model 231A is said to easily read correct pin configurations of most popular network cables including 10baseT, 100baseTx, 10base2, Token Ring cables, etc. Both testers measure a compact 2.37 x 1.0 x 4.25 in. and feature a protective rubber boot, belt clip, and remote terminator storage.
