Minneapolis— Bringing EtherNet/IP users the flexibility of open IEC 6 1131-3 compliant software, Beckhoff Automation has announced full EtherNet/IP compatibility with TwinCAT, its the real-time control software for machine and building automation. Via TwinCAT EtherNet/IP Slave (available in Windows XP and CE variants), one standard TwinCAT software package can communicate seamlessly with all devices from Beckhoff, which include Industrial PCs, embedded PCs and PLCs, as well as EtherNet/IP master devices from other vendors.
TwinCAT programming environment , allowing for graphical linking of mapped data to PLC tasks. TwinCAT software reportedly acts as a low cost, yet intelligent gateway system by using integrated EtherNet/IP communication and PLC functionality. Beckhoff’s BK9105 Bus Coupler I/O device facilitates communication.
automation technologies…. can be easily integrated with a non-Beckhoff EtherNet/IP master device on the machine and share data without restriction. EtherNet/IP system designers can now take full advantage of Beckhoff technology without isolating machine modules already equipped with third-party devices.”

Multi-core processor support
nditions,” said the company. Consistent utilization of multi-core technology results in a control architecture that executes automation tasks with even higher speed and reliability, independent of the processor load from other Windows programs.
optimize PC performance. The second computation kernel, which is not used by TwinCAT, is fully available for Windows and, therefore, offers sufficient reserve capacity even for performance-hungry user interfaces in large automation applications.
herboard, and panel PCs and DIN rail mountable embedded PCs from the upcoming CX1030 range. Beckhoff also will continue to support processors used prior to the Core Duo generation.
