Research Triangle Park, NC “Real-Time Execution for IEC 61499” is written by Dr. Alois Zoitl of ACIN at the Technical University of Vienna, gives an analysis of dynamic reconfiguration and the execution behavior of IEC 61499, about function blocks.“Safety Profiles for Real-Time Ethernet-Based Industrial Automation Networks,” introduces real-time communication systems and functional safety concepts, the methods and techniques necessary to achieve real-time communication and functional safety compliance within industrial production systems according to the IEC 61508, a safety standard. It is written primarily by Dr. Luca Ferrarini from Polimi in Italy.Dr. Ferrarini is also primarily responsible for a January new book that contains 14 papers from more than 40 authors. These volumes are the latest in a series of books on automation technologies that was first introduced last year when the first book of the series, a primer on the IEC 61499 standard by Dr. Valeriy Vyatkin, was published.Founded in 1945, the ISA calls itself The Automation Federation . O3neida is a network of networks that works to advance distributed industrial automation. ISA’s and O3neida’s partnership began in 2006 and currently, seven titles have been planned in this automation series. Related reading
