Several new HMI products made their way into the HMI market this month. They include small form factor inverters from Endicott Research Group and a flat-panel monitor from Advantech . Details follow, along with links to the company Websites for more information.

S and SE Series inverters from Endicott Research Group feature small form factors and come in open frame and vacuum encapsulated versions. S Series dc/ac inverter can power up to 2 cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs), measures 0.62-in. wide x 2.87-in. long x 0.38-in. high, and weighs 12 grams. Low-profile device can handle up to 5 W of output power and is available in standard 5- and 12-V designs. Custom input voltages can be designed on request. S Series is widely used in embedded designs. Other applications include signature capture devices, mobile POS terminals, and navigation and GPS systems.

Information Control

Industrial SVGA flat panel monitor from the Industrial Automation Group of Advantech features a direct-VGA port and comes with either a resistive or capacitive touchscreen.

SE Series dc/ac inverter features the same form factor but is vacuum encapsulated for reliability and resistance to shock, vibrations, and humidity. It is suited for single- or dual-lamp applications where compact size, high efficiency, resistance to harsh environments and absolute reliability are critical. SE Series measures 0.75-in. wide x 2.98-in. long x 0.42-in. high. Applications include industrial and medical handheld instrumentation. An SE2 Series model has the same small footprint and vacuum encapsulated design to power 2 lamps. Both series have an operating temperature range of -20 to 70 °C.

FMP-3120G color flat panel monitor the Industrial Automation Group of Advantech is designed for industrial applications. Display is an SVGA TFT LCD with high luminance of up to 350 cd/m2. LCD backlight has a life expectancy of 50,000 hours. Aluminum front panel is NEMA 4/IP65 compliant. Hard anodic coating protects the panel from abrasion and acid corrosion. Direct-VGA signal transmission allows use of a regular VGA control card. Other features include a 12.1-in. monitor with resolution up to 800 x 600 pixels; a multi-scan function supporting XGA, SVGA, VGA, and text mode; auto-recognition of input signal; and VESA arm, desktop, panel, and wall mounting capability. Both resistive and capacitive touchscreens are offered.
