New pneumatic valve positioners save air, improve communications

Foxboro, MA and Alpharetta, GA —Two new valve positioners improve performance with sophisticated technology advances:

The Foxboro SRD991 Intelligent Positioner, from Invensys Process Systems, provides easy configuration and operation of pneumatic valve actuators from local and remote locations. Supporting HART, FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1, or Profibus-PA communication, the SRD991 is certified for installations involving explosive atmospheres.

Siemens ’ SIPART PS2 positioner is known for its extremely low air consumption. When balanced, air use is virtually eliminated reducing operating costs. The PS2 communicates via Profibus-PA and HART protocols.

Both designs control linear and rotary actuators, responding to control signals from a DCS or PC-based controller to modulate a larger valve. The two designs offer similar packages of programming aids, tuning operations, self-diagnostics, and user-defined functions.
