New Product: DeviceNet USB adapter needs no external power

Ifak System GmbH introduced its new DeviceNet USB adapter, called Is DNet USB, which provides a communication link between a desktop or notebook computer and a DeviceNet network.


Magdeburg, Germany Ifak System GmbH introduced its new DeviceNet USB adapter, called Is DNet USB, which provides a communication link between a desktop or notebook computer and a DeviceNet network. The interface does not depend on external power supplies, but gets power from the USB port. It implements the current DeviceNet Standard Version 2.0. The available driver software supports the operating systems Microsoft Windows 9x, ME, 2000 and XP.

The scanner allows a dynamic change of the DeviceNet slave list, meaning that slave devices can be added to or deleted from the list. Scan cycle time can be set as required by the system. “Explicit messaging” is performed by asynchronous command and event queues, so any length data packets can be transmitted. Real-time data are kept in a separate DPRAM . The firmware supports process data exchange via “poll”, “bit strobe” and “cyclic/change of state” connections. The DeviceNet stack also provided proxy functionality, so multi-master access for group 2 only slaving is possible.

The adapter’s features include master/scanner (0x0 C-communications adapter) device type; 125 K, 250 K, or 500K baud rates; and bit-strobe I/O slave messaging.
