PA Resins AB has ordered a new automation system based on ABB’s System 800xA to improve the operations of its phenolic and amino resins plant in Perstorp, Sweden.

ther factor, that is as important as the technology, is the local service and support that ABB can provide for the project.”

ABB’s scope of supply includes its System 800xA with functionality for advanced batch handling, long-term storage of process data, and enterprise connectivity solution for integration with PA Resins’ corporate SAP system. An ABB spokesman says this streamlined, single point interface for vertical integration between plant and enterprise business systems enables easy information access and exchange while it eliminates the need for multiple customized and complex system interfaces.

PA Resins anticipates that the new system will help it react more quickly to changing customer requirements by making the production process more flexible with less changeover time needed between different product runs. By integrating production and business systems, PA Resins will also reduce its order-to-cash cycle. PA Resins has yearly production volume of 65,000 tons.
