News: You can sound off on proposed Wireless HART Standard
The HART Communication Foundation will host a special user roundtable to discuss the coming Wireless HART Communication Standard on Monday, February 12, at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando. This meeting is part of the larger ARC Advisory Group Worldwide Strategy Forum also that week, although attendance at the roundtable is free and does not require registration for the ARC event.
If you are an automation professional and concerned what form and direction this standard takes, you can attend to hear what your peers have to say and add your own voice. This standard will have a major influence on wireless instrumentation and networking, so if you’re looking at using this technology in your plant, do not underestimate its importance. A very impressive list of vendors has pledged cooperation, even though some will invariably be disappointed, as there are incompatible technology approaches competing for selection.
“This roundtable is for people who’ll be evaluating and using this technology,” says Chuck Micallef, marketing consultant for HART Communication Foundation. “This is their chance to look at the progress and have input before it hits the street. We’ll put out some of the recent decisions and directions to get user feedback.”
Micallef expects discussions on a number of key topics, including:
Security;
Reliability;
Mesh networking vs. frequency hopping;
Use of off-the-shelf technology; and,
Ease of use and deployment, among others.
