Nine new DSP controllers introduced

Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) recently unveiled nine additions to its family of embedded digital signal processor (DSP) motor controllers. They include six members of the ADMC328 Series, with flash and metal ROM versions; two members of the ADMC40x series, featuring pipelined flash and 12-bit A/D architecture; and the ADMC331, that offers power factor correction.

"We believe the life of microcontrollers is far from over. However, most control system design engineers would like to move some of their microcontroller-based system designs to embedded DSP to take advantage of the DSP's mathematical processing," says Phil Davies, director of ADI's motor control group.
