NMW 2005: B&B Electronics shows Ethernet switches, serial, wireless servers

Chicago, IL— B&B Electronics (Booth #4705) reports that its ESR series DIN rail-mount, industrial Ethernet serial servers are available with one, two, or four serial ports, each configurable to suit RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 serial cabling/data applications. Power can be an industrial range of ac or dc.

The company is also exhibiting at National Manufacturing Week (NMW) , March 7-10 at McCormick Place, its new wireless 802.11 Wi-Fi compliant serial servers, which include one-, two-, and four-port versions, as well as DIN rail-mount cases and industrial-range power for easy installation in NEMA boxes.

B&B also is holding a show-and-tell session on its recent custom wireless work for a major nuclear power plant. This project reportedly included an IEEE 802.15.4 wireless mesh network to transmit diagnostic serial data from 2,500-horsepower electric motors to the maintenance office. Though the plan alleviated the need to install new wiring, the wireless system had to be designed to work in an electrically noisy environment and meet stringent security requirements, while providing for future expansion.
