The National Tooling and Machining Association and the Precision Metalforming Association were recognized last week as part of the first annual Delivering on the Promise Honor Roll Awards. The awards were given by American Jobs for America’s Heroes (AJAH), a non-profit military hiring campaign coordinated between the National Guard, private sector employers, trade associations, and the non-profit community. NTMA and PMA received awards for their outstanding commitment and leadership in helping National Guard members and veterans gain civilian employment. The ceremony was held at the National Guard Association of the U.S. headquarters in Washington, DC.

"NTMA recognizes the training and talent of members of the U.S. military and works to connect returning American service men and women with good jobs in the manufacturing sector," said Brigadier General Ivan Denton, Director of Manpower and Personnel (J1), in his presentation. "As part of the effort to address the lack of skilled workers in the manufacturing sector, NTMA is collaborating with employers, job training centers, educators, the armed forces, and others to promote the hiring of veterans," Denton said.

"We are honored to receive this award," said NTMA President Dave Tilstone. "We need to keep getting the word out that these men and women can be a key to closing this skills gap. NTMA looks forward to continuing to work with AJAH on this important program."

"PMA members who have hired veterans report that these men and women have qualities that make them exceptional candidates for manufacturing jobs – qualities like a strong work ethic, a commitment to training, a respect for safety and an attention to precision and detail," said PMA President Bill Gaskin.
