ODVA tests for product performance with EtherNet/IP; Feb. 24-26 conference

Ann Arbor, MI – While there is no one-size-fits-all recommendation of features a network must have to be appropriate for the application, says Katherine Voss, executive director of ODVA, says. Users can determine their application needs with information about products’ performance on various networks.
To help with that, Voss says, ODVA expanded testing services beyond product conformance with the ODVA specifications to provide a testing service for network performance for EtherNet/IP products.
“The tests conducted with this service will measure several aspects of network performance,” Voss says, “including attributes such as the type and number of network connections supported and the time elapsed between production of subsequent frames of network traffic. End users can review this data to match product performance to application requirements.”
The user can use the information to determine how rugged or commercial a product needs to be for the application, Voss suggests.
