Omron helps sponsor RFID Research Center at University of Arkansas

Fayetteville, AK— Omron Electronics LLC reports that it’s a sponsoring member of the newly opened Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Research Center at the University of Arkansas . Events during the official opening included an RFID forum, featuring comments by the sponsors, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour of the research facility.

The 19 sponsoring members include retail, market, and industry leaders, who will participate in the center’s research activities. All of the sponsors are intimately involved in the technical development and practical application of RFID technology, and in public policy that will govern its future.

“As a manufacturer of RFID and automation systems, Omron is delighted to be working alongside such a distinguished group of colleagues to advance, not only RFID technology, but also industry and public understanding of the opportunities and challenges deploying the technology presents to us,” says Bill Arnold, Omron’s partner business manager.

As a unit of the university’s Sam M. Walton College of Business, the new center plans to become an internationally recognized leader in RFID application research and the study of its impact on business and society. It includes a “live-environment” laboratory, and will offer product testing. It will draw on expertise from many of its sponsoring members.
