On-Motor controllers can be custom-designed by the manufacturer with Pittman brushless dc motor frames to eliminate external boxes, wires, and bulk and to improve motor performance. Controllers feature fewer components for smaller, lighter packages; enhanced motor control, wide speed ranges; sealed, splash-proof electronics; overcurrent control; and more. Multi-wire brushless dc motors can be converted into simple two-wire (single polarity) motors with open-loop speed control in voltages from 12 to 48 V; currents up to 8 A, depending on windings used; and shaft speeds from 100 to 15,000 rpm, depending on load conditions.
