OPC Summit in Orlando Oct. 16-18

Homeland Security official to deliver event keynote

09/07/2012

The OPC Foundation has published its program agenda for the inaugural OPC Technology Summit. Open to OPC Foundation members and non-members, and scheduled for October 16-18, 2012, in Orlando, Florida, at the Renaissance Orlando Hotel at SeaWorld, the event showcases OPC technology, including the next-generation OPC Unified Architecture (OPC UA). OPC is the open platform connectivity standard for secure, reliable data and information integration in automation and related domains.

“OPC Technology Summit presents a first-class program of how OPC UA is revolutionizing data and information exchange,” said Thomas Burke, President and Executive Director of the OPC Foundation. “We are thrilled to feature presentations from the world’s leading manufacturers explaining how OPC UA is driving business benefits through superior connectivity solutions.”

Attendees to the OPC Technology Summit will learn how Roland Essmann, Project Manager, MES & Manufacturing IT for Elster GmbH uses OPC UA to connect plant-floor PLCs to its SAP ERP system. Clinton Chapman, Ph.D., Drilling Automation Program Architect for Schlumberger, will present the consistency and efficiency his program gains with off-the-shelf OPC servers. In a special session on OPC Foundation Certification, a speaker from 3M reveals why his company relies on OPC-certified products in its automation solutions.

An OPC Technology Summit highlight is the Keynote Address from Sanaz (Sunny) Browarny, who is the Chief of Intelligence and Analysis for the Control Systems Security Program at the Department of Homeland Security. In her role, Browarny oversees all of the intelligence related to control systems in critical infrastructures for the U.S.
