Mettler Toledo’s new InPro 6970i dissolved oxygen sensor is designed for brewing applications, to minimize product waste and reduce maintenance costs with rapid and accurate measurements.

Sensor design offers low maintenance with user-replaceable sensor element.
Accurate control of dissolved oxygen level is critical to beer quality. Levels need to be at specific points during the fermentation process and prior to packaging to ensure consistent flavor and shelf life. The InPro 6970i is an optical oxygen sensor based on a chemo-optical technology that the company says offers significant advantages, including minimal maintenance and calibration, long-term stability, and high accuracy.

The sensor includes ISM (Intelligent Sensor Management) technology, using fluorescence to determine the dissolved oxygen content at various stages during the process. Mettler Toledo sees this as another step in its extensive experience with analytical parameters in breweries, including dissolved oxygen, conductivity, turbidity, and pH.

Maintenance is simple since the OptoCap is the only consumable and can be replaced by the user. The optical sensor does not need any electrolyte or polarization, which improves its operational availability and reduces the risk of handling errors. Add that to easy calibration routines on long intervals for high operational availability.
