Temecula, Calif. – To better provide the power and connectivity of remote monitoring and enterprise data acquisition hardware, Opto 22 introduced Aug. 5 its 1U rack-mount version of its Snap-IT system.

With thousands of units already in service, Opto 22 reports that Snap-IT offers a simple, effective method for connecting an organization’s enterprise and departmental software applications-ERP, SCM, operations, factory floor-to its essential facilities, such as capital equipment, building facility systems and manufacturing machinery, for remote monitoring and enterprise data acquisition. Organizations use this connectivity to ensure timely data exchange, reduce data retrieval complexity and middleware, and lower the cost of obtaining decision-making information.

d actuators, and allow the unit to monitor and control up to 32 different devices. The system supports multiple protocols including XML, SNMP and SMTP, allowing direct integration with standards-based software applications. The protocols are supported over any IP-based wired or wireless network-Ethernet, Internet, cellular, or radio-allowing organizations to use existing private or public communication infrastructures.

The 1U configuration is suited for remotely monitoring business assets, such as data centers, convenience stores, quick-serve restaurants and building facility systems. The 1U is also appropriate for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that wish to embed monitoring or data acquisition functionality into their products.

“The Snap-IT product family has always provided an easy and cost-effective method to bring both localized and remote equipment and systems online quickly,” says Bob Sheffres, Opto 22’s vp. “Now, this new, more compact packaging of Snap-IT optimizes rack space, while delivering a complete solution for data acquisition and remote monitoring for applications in areas like manufacturing, security and remote site management.”
