Osicom Embeds Network Connectivity System on Silicon Chip

Osicom Technologies Inc. unveiled its new Net+Arm product line here on Jan. 5. The company says Net+Arm is the industry’s first complete network connectivity system located entirely on silicon, and that it will help original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) slash time-to-market and unit costs of connecting products to Ethernet systems and the Internet. Unlike other connectivity approaches, Net+Arm consolidates all connectivity hardware and software subsystems onto one chip, which Osicom estimates will help OEMs cut time-to-market by six months, reduce unit costs by 50%, and simplify designs when network-enabling products. The company adds that far more OEMs in noncomputer industries will be able to network-enable products, and this will spark a new generation of devices and systems connected via Ethernet and the Internet.
