Model 4002 miniature diaphragm pump from Rietschle Thomas incorporates an elongated, oval-shaped diaphragm with a larger surface area than a conventional round diaphragm. Pump is reportedly capable of generating higher flows than a similarly sized pump with a standard diaphragm.

Slim, small, lightweight, and oil-less, the pump is designed for applications where space is a premium, such as in gas detectors, for air sampling, and in particle counters. It measures 2.1 in. (52.5 mm) long, 0.7 in. (17.3 mm) wide, and 1.2 in. (30.3 mm) high and weighs 0.09 lb (45 g). Maximum flow is rated at 0.07 cfm (2.0 lpm). Maximum vacuum is rated at 17.8 in. hg (-600 mbar). Pressure versions are also available. Pump is powered by a 7 V dc motor and incorporates an ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) diaphragm and valves.
