Middletown, Pa. —With the importance of wireless technologies in industrial applications growing, many companies are expanding their wireless product lines. During the next year and continuing into the future, Phoenix Contact’s Regional Business Unit (RBU) will expand its wireless products and services to customers throughout North and South America. Included in the effort is its product portfolio for wireless SCADA applications and wireless Ethernet connectivity.
In other wireless-related company news, the unit also named Paul Mercier to the newly created position of business development manager for wireless products. Mercier previously served as the national wireless specialist for Phoenix Contact USA. He now will focus on the continuing growth of wireless and FOUNDATION Fieldbus technologies.
The company has thousands of wireless measurement and control applications installed already. The RBU plans to transfer its application knowledge of industrial wireless I/O technologies, wireless data in SCADA segments, and secure wireless Ethernet to key market segments in the rest of the Americas, including Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina.
