Photoelectric sensors enable longer sensing distances

Pepperl+Fuchs ML100 Series photoelectric sensors now come with a more powerful and brighter light spot to enable longer sensing distances of up to 30 meters (98 ft) and provide greater signal strength to reliably “see” through more contaminants that collect on the sensor lens. The new light spot also facilitates easier alignment, even to small objects or reflectors, according to the company, because its sharply defined boundaries and lack of a central black space provides a consistent detection field with no “sensing voids.”  Status LEDs also are highly visible from 360 degrees, so users can quickly ascertain sensor status from further distances and various positions. Durability is provided by metal bushings that resist stripping of threads. Sensors also feature low current consumption, automatic crosstalk protection, high immunity to ambient light, and a broad temperature rating (-30° C to 60° C; -22° F to 140° F).
