PLDApplications releases the smart frame grabber

Aix-en-Provence, France - PLDApplications (PLDA) announced November 7 the immediate availability of the PCI-X XSYS, the latest smart frame grabber of its XSYS family. The PCI-X frame grabber supports base/medium/full CameraLink or LVDS IO_path up to 133 MHz. Further, it accepts image data from 1 to 4 area or line scan cameras providing monochrome or RGB images.

''Like other products of the XSYS family, the PCI-X XSYS offers flexibility, more processing power on the PC, and embedded image processing features at a frame grabber cost. But now vision system designers can break the 1 GigaByte/second video data transfer rate barrier'' said Arnaud Schleich, vp of sales and marketing at PLDA.

This capacity allows continuous acquisition of high-speed and high-resolution images from all the very high speed CMOS cameras. For example, it can continuously grab 1,280 x 1,024-pixel images at 500 frame/second from the Basler 504k camera. The master mode can also transfer images data directly to other PCI agents such as hard disk storage, without using the host memory.

The frame grabber integrates preprocessing algorithms and can offer a large programmable space for custom preprocessing. This configuration enhances PC performance, saving processing power on the host CPU. Host CPU can then be dedicated to application algorithms.

A quad-channel fiber optic interface option for long distance video transmission in environments with radiation, noise, and grounding problems is available. It's the safest way to communicate at up to 4 x 1,25 Gigabit/s over miles and to replicate data from one PC to another.
