Revenues for the " World Transient Voltage Surge Suppressor [TVSS] Market " totaled $1.07 billion in 2003 and are projected to reach $2.02 billion by 2010, according to Frost & Sullivan , a global Growth Consulting firm. Integration of electronic circuits into smaller packages has heightened sensitivity to transient voltage conditions, says Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Vishal Sapru. "This intensifies the demand for hard-wired TVSSs to handle surges at the individual equipment level, which in turn positively impacts revenues."

Hard-wired TVSS companies will see competition from electrical distribution equipment manufacturers, which offer power to end-users and provide products targeted at solving power-quality related problems, Sapru suggests, including bundled uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), TVSS, inverters, and others. Pressure for minimal downtime could result in increased demand for TVSSs.
