Power transfer switch
An ASCO Power Control Center has been integrated into medium voltage power transfer switches to improve communications and manage circuit breaker operations.
Emerson Network Power has integrated an ASCO Power Control Center in its ASCO Medium Voltage Power Transfer Switches (MVPTS) to improve the systems’ communications capabilities and better manage circuit breaker operation. The ASCO MVPTS family is comprised of three standard base models: Series 977, Series 974, and Series 973. They can be outfitted with protective relays and a wide range of options and accessories, such as communication and connectivity capabilities, and power monitoring and metering. All are rated 3-phase, 3-wire and 50 or 60 Hz. Each medium-voltage power transfer switch in these series are rated at 1200 amps (with amp breakers only) and are UL 1008A compliant. The ASCO Series 977 showcases a 25 kAIC short-circuit rating and the ASCO Series 974 is rated at 40 kAIC. The ASCO Series 973 showcases a single enclosure configuration and is rated at 5 kV at 600 amps.
