Houston, TX —In a move that brings key division management closer to numerous oil and gas, petrochemical and energy industry customer facilities, ABB announced it is relocating its global Process Automation division headquarters from Norwalk, CT. to Houston, TX, effective Aug. 1, 2007. Global division management will join more than 300 ABB employees already at the Houston facility.

“This will allow us to be closer to the management and operations of some of ABB’s largest customers,” said Mr. Veli-Matti Reinikkala, head of ABB’s Process Automation division. “This move complements the well-established ABB engineering, service and support teams which already exist in Houston, and also underscores our continued focus on growing our business in the North American market.”

About 3,600 energy-related companies are in the Houston area, including 600 oil exploration and production firms, and 170 pipeline companies. The Houston-Baytown-Huntsville area also is home to 405 chemical plants employing roughly 36,000 people. Nearly every major chemical company operates a plant near Houston, including BASF AG, Bayer Corp., Chevron Phillips Chemical Co., E. I. du Pont de Nemours Co., ExxonMobil Chemical Co., and Shell Chemical LP.

ABB’s Process Automation division delivers integrated solutions for control, plant optimization, as well as industry-specific application knowledge and services. These industries include oil and gas, power, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper, metals, minerals, marine and turbocharging. The ABB Group of companies operates in 100 countries and employs about 109,000 people.
