Goulds Pumps shipped its millionth ANSI process pump last month. The company called the 3196 pump model "still the industry standard after 45 years."

Introduced in 1961 as the Goulds 3196 ANSI standard dimension process pump, the model became one of the company's most popular products, and it is reportedly recognized as a workhorse in chemical, petrochemical, pulp and paper, primary metals, food and beverage, and general-industry processes. The company says it ships thousands of the pumps each month from manufacturing facilities around the world.

The original pump comes in 29 sizes with a variety of features for handling difficult applications. X-Series power ends provide standard features for improved bearing and mechanical seal life. Variations include a high-temperature model mounted in a heavy duty fabricated steel casing support; a low-flow process model for low-flow chemical processes; a non-clog model with a concentric volute casing with recessed impeller design for handling bulky, fibrous, or shear-sensitive liquids; a self-priming unit for chemical processing; and an in-line pump with a fully open impeller, back pull-out design, and sturdy construction for corrosives, abrasives, and high temperatures.
