Gas pressure sensor
Cleveland, O. -Meriam Instrument has introduced a new 20-in. H2O range on its line of microprocessor-based sensors. The new devices will measure differential pressure, vacuum, and gauge pressures of clean, dry gases. The sensor has an accuracy of Meriam Instrument
`Muting' safety light screen
Minneapolis, Minn. -Micro-Screen is a safety light screen system that features a "muting" function that temporarily suspends light screen operation, allowing parts to enter and exit the protected area without shutting down guarded machinery. This action eliminates the need to shut the safety system down during part-feeding operations, saving both time and increasing throughput. Intended for a wide range of automated machine guarding operations, the device features separate diagnostics and function selection switches for mode of operation, timing features, and input/output control. Banner Engineering Corp.
Critical flow control valve
Santa Fe Springs, Calif. -SVF Series V7 ball valves are said to be high performance, process-quality control valves designed for critical flow applications. Available in a size range from 1/2 to 3 in. in carbon and stainless steel, the devices also include a Class VI shutoff, live-loaded stem seals to EPA mandates, rangeability up to 200:1, and a forged stainless-steel characterized seat. The valves can withstand pressure drops up to 500 psi and operating temperatures to 450 °F. They can be used with liquids containing solids or fibrous media. SVF Flow Controls Inc.
Cabinet racks meet EIA, IEC standards
Willoughby, O. -Luxor Series cabinet racks are said to provide advanced design features and high strength. Available in two styles, the enclosures meet both EIA-310 and IEC-297 standards and come in a variety of sizes and configurations. All models feature fully adjustable extruded aluminum panel mounting rails, internal cable management bars, and gasketed doors. Some models feature acrylic front doors for instant monitoring of internal components. All cabinets accommodate 19-in. panel width equipment. Bud Industries Inc.
Digital servo controller
Burlingame, Calif. -MIP-50 is a four-quadrant PWM digital servo amplifier designed to control position, velocity, and torque. Compatible with brush or brushless motors up to 250 W, the device can supply 5 amp continuously, 11 amp for 5 sec, and 13 amp for 200 msec. The compact MIP-50 can be used in Eurocard systems or individually. Two analog and eight digital user-defined inputs plus stop, enable, left and right limits are available. The inputs are ESD-protected and can be configured as active high or active low. Low-jerk acceleration and deceleration profiles and autotuning functions can also be selected. Maxon Precision Motors Inc.
Economical noncontact infrared thermometer
Santa Cruz, Calif. -MiniTemp noncontact in-frared thermometer is a handheld, pocket-sized unit available with or without laser sighting. The device is powered by a 9-volt alkaline battery and displays temperature in either °F or °C. Temperature range is 0 to 500 °F. Accuracy is Raytek Corp.
Network cable testers
Placentia, Calif. -Network cable testers, Models 230 and 231, are lightweight, portable for checking network cables. Model 230 can be used to test Ethernet (BNC), 10base T (UTP/STP), 100base Tx, TIA-568A, and token ring cables. It is said to detect miswiring, polarization, and continuity in seconds. Model 231 is also a battery-powered tester that can be used to read correct pin configuration of a wide variety of network cables by comparing one transmitting end to the corresponding receiving end. BK Precision Corp.
Simplify single-level, single-loop process control
Milford, N.H. - SimLink control system simplifies and reduces the cost of single-level, single-loop process control. The system provides a single dedicated field controller per process that can either be controlled from a PC, or run autonomously. Both electric and pneumatic actuators can be controlled. A variety of analog and digital inputs providing on-off and proportional control settings are available. The control program provides simple graphical control of multiple units. No programming or graphical hierarchy of any kind is required. SimPro Controls
High-bright flat-panel screen
Fremont, Calif.- PAC Series of expandable portable computers has now received what is said to be the brightest industrial flat-panel screen. PAC display boasts a display brightness of over 250 nits and a constant ratio of greater than 200 to 1. The screen is intended for mobile industrial computing applications and features a 12.1-in. active matrix TFT color display. A black matrix coating provides anti-glare/anti-reflection viewing. Backlight life is over 50,000 hr. Dolch Computer Systems Inc.
Pneumatic control system
Monee, Ill. - Pneumatic Control System (PCS) is designed to control any of the developer's pneumatic position feedback actuators. The system is a closed-loop electronic controller with pneumatic valves that can accurately position the actuator rod or shaft and hold it in position with various degrees of accuracy and force. Repeatability of linear motion applications can be as good as Bimba Manufacturing Co.
