Omnify Software, a Massachusettes based provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software for electronic, medical, mechanical, and defense manufacturers, announced the RapidStart PLM Suite for the Empower PLM 4.5 solution. RapidStart lets small and mid-size manufacturers access a robust PLM solution at a starting price of $6,000, then incorporate additional functionality of the Omnify Empower PLM system as their needs and skills grow.

According to David Solimini, vice president of sales for Omnify Software, the RapidStart PLM Suite delivers key features for improving product development, including: product data management, bill of material (BOM) management, engineering change/ECO management, document management, compliance management, and integration with engineering environments.

" PLM systems have been identified as a proven aid by helping to minimize overhead and streamline processes," said Solimini. "Thus, we wanted to provide a system with quick deployment and low cost to not only help companies in this economy, but to also be able to meet their future product development needs."

Earlier this year, Omnify participated in Dassault Systemes’ SolidWorks World 2009 conference. There, attendees saw how Omnify Empower PLM integrated with SolidWorks 3D CAD software to create a more efficient mechanical design and documentation process. The integration lets SolidWorks users utilize the Omnify PLM system to store and manage released Bill of Materials (BOMs) and associated files, automatically create BOMs from 3D assembly drawings, and gain access to an enhanced data set such as costs, status, availability, and vendor information.

"Many of our customers use SolidWorks for their mechanical design and, by leveraging this integration they are able to simplify and streamline their mechanical design process," stated Chuck Cimalore, CTO for Omnify Software.

Omnify’s PLM solutions are built on the Microsoft .NET Framework. The company is well-known for its customer service, training, development and support, winning such honors as being named to START-IT Magazine’s Hottest Companies list for three consecutive years, as well as Manufacturing Business Technology’s Top 40 Emerging Vendors list.
