RF modems get Class 1, Div. 2 safety compliance
MaxStream's 900 MHz 9XTend wireless radio modem is among company products available in a Class I, Division 2 certified stand-alone model, and it can communicate up to 40 miles line-of sight with a high-gain antenna.
MaxStream offers Class I, Division 2 certified wireless radio modems, ensuring safe deployment in hazardous locations where highly flammable vapors are present, such as acetylene, hydrogen, ethylene and propane (Groups A, B, C, D). Such certification is often required for wireless integration at refineries, chemical plants, pipelines, and other locations.
Hugh Nielsen, MaxStream’s chief technology officer, says, “Having already passed the stringent requirements of both Class I, Div. 2 and FCC, MaxStream wireless modems do not require OEMs or end-users to obtain additional safety and government agency approvals before they can be used in the field.”
