Boston, MA; Los Angeles, CA; and Las Vegas, NV — RFID (radio frequency identification) technology discussions continue, twice this month, and later in the year.

IDTechEx presented RFID Smart Labels & Active RFID/RTLS Expo Feb. 20-21, 2008, at the Marriott Copley in Boston. The 7th annual analyst-driven event examined what is selling, what isn't, what the technology needs are, and experience from the biggest users; success stories from the companies who have secured the largest RFID orders in the world; application and technology tracks; tours; and an RFID Investment Summit. More than 400 delegates from 24 countries were expected to attend educational sessions on HF RFID, Printed & Chipless RFID; Real Time Locating Systems and Active RFID; RFID in Retail; and Logistics and Postal RFID. .

The

UCLA-Winmec

RFID Workshop

was Feb. 26, 2008, at UCLA in Los Angeles.
UCLA-Winmec stands for Wireless Internet for Mobile Enterprise Consortium, a UCLA-based university, industry, and government collaboration with the objective to advance technological and business research and to educate its members on the state-of-the art in wireless and mobile industries. Faculty and researchers from the UCLA-WINMEC RFID Lab, who have been working on RFID for several years, were expected to address issues that arise in the process of using RFID for the enterprise. Demonstrations were also offered.

RFID workshop videos are available.

Coming up: The 6th Annual RFID World is a a conference and exhibition Sept. 8-10, 2008, at the MGM Grand Casino and Resort in Las Vegas. Walmart's Linda Dillman and Best Buy's Robert Willett will present a lineup of innovative thought leaders to discuss issues facing the RFID industry and offer insight into its future.
