RFID: Partnership adds tags, hardware options to asset management

Englewood, CO —A partnership between an asset management software developer and an RFID tag and reader manufacturer brings a wider selection of options to customers of both companies.

Fluensee Inc ., an RFID-enabled asset management and supply chain system provider, has agreed to support Intelleflex ‘s new battery-assisted passive RFID tags and readers as part of its asset tracking and supply chain management offerings. The Intelleflex line is said to serve the market between lower priced, limited capability passive tags and more expensive active technology.

Under the alliance, Fluensee becomes an authorized reseller of Intelleflex’ InfoSure single-chip RFID tags and I-Beam multi-protocol readers. The tags have long-distance read and write capabilities of up to 100 m in free space when used with the I-Beam readers, making them comparable to active tags but at less cost. The range translates to 100% read-write reliability at standard working ranges in industrial environments. The multi-protocol products ensure global interoperability using EPC (electronic product code) standards.

The partnership extends more costs-effective technologies to customers, says Chris Brumett, Fluensee vice president of operations. Intelleflex tags and readers offer the benefits of reliable, long-range reads characteristic of active tags at significantly lower cost, adds Craig Kavanaugh, Intelleflex senior director of channel sales.
