Rockwell International adopts Rockwell Automation name

Milwaukee, Wis.— To better reflect its business focus, Rockwell International Corp. announced Feb. 19 that it will assume the name of its primary remaining subsidiary, Rockwell Automation, after it spins off its avionics business, Rockwell Collins (Cedar Rapids, Ia.), as a separate, publicly traded company in June 2001.

Milwaukee, Wis.— To better reflect its business focus, Rockwell International Corp. announced Feb. 19 that it will assume the name of its primary remaining subsidiary, Rockwell Automation, after it spins off its avionics business, Rockwell Collins (Cedar Rapids, Ia.), as a separate, publicly traded company in June 2001. Rockwell Collins will retain its existing name. Rockwell also revealed plans Feb. 19 to establish the Rockwell Science Center as an independent company owned jointly by Rockwell Collins and Rockwell Automation. Once Collins' spin-off is complete, the partners may seek more investors for the center. The goal is to preserve the center's research and development capabilities for Boeing, Conexant, Rockwell Automation, Rockwell Collins, the U.S. government, and other customers, as well as enhance its ability to commercialize its discoveries.
