John Robertson, president and founder of RoviSys Co . recently won the 2003 Charlie Bergman Memorial Award presented Sept. 8 by the Control and Information System Integrators Association (CSIA). The award is given annually to the CSIA member judged to be the most committed to sharing knowledge, being a market leader, and promoting control system integration. RoviSys provides process automation technology and solutions.

The annual award memorializes Charles Bergman, who was the driving force behind establishing the CSIA in 1993. Ten years later, CSIA is the largest organization in North America dedicated to serving independent control and information system integrators.

Also one of CSIA’s founding members, Robertson attended the first gathering of what became CSIA in Wilmington, NC. He’s been active in the organization ever since.

When he recognized strong market demand in 1989 for independent sources of control and process automation solutions, Robertson left his job as head of product development and engineering for Bailey Controls, which is now part of ABB, to establish RoviSys. His firm is now one of the largest independent providers of process automation design, engineering, and services in North America.

Products and services from RoviSys include process control systems and integration; process-to-business information integration; process software engineering; and product development services for clients in the chemical, pharmaceutical, paint, high-tech glass, plastics, power, and other process and batch industries. The company presently has 100 employees and performs work throughout North America and Asia.
